Day 1--We made it!

It has been a VERY long day, so I´ll just keep this short. We successfully arrived in El Salvador, and we were met by Alex, our Thrivent Builds assistant, who will be with us all week. He studied English (as in for a higher education degree) for three years, and he has a lot of fun stories.

For tonight, we are in a beautiful, extremely comfortable hotel in San Salvador (note the computer access that, if I had more time or energy, would also allow us to post pictures immediately). After church tomorrow we will transfer up to the hotel we will be at for the rest of the week. We are still not sure what sort of internet access we will have there, but rest assured that we will do our best to keep you posted on what we are up to!

For now, buenos noches to all our friends, families, and followers out there! And if anyone knows how to create the "at" symbol with a Latin American keyboard, I would love to hear about it.

Glad everyone is safe and sound - although the sound part might be iffy. Kent's photos are being sent around cyber world -thanks, Kent!Today Pr. Cathy gave a very insightful sermon on turning your cheek and going the extra mile. The fellowship hour was sponsored by the Roschke clan. You missed some great Indian food although I suspect you are enjoying pupusas and tamales. We prayed for all of you today and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers all week.

Glad to hear everyone is safe and sound. According to Wikipedia, try Alt-Q, or copy the @ symbol from this comment.

Hey All,

I am not sure this went through the first time, so I'll try again...or maybe there will be two comments from me. Either way--

Glad you all made it down safely! I hope that your first day of building went well! I can't wait to hear more about your experience! Thinking and praying for you all! Soak it all in!

Katie

Hugs to Kent!

Ps. We are getting 2-4 inches of snow tonight!

You were missed yesterday, and your absence meant we had more than enough delicious Indian food. I hope everyone stays well and it isn't miserably hot. As Katie said, we are expecting snow - and sleet, so you can be glad you are away from the driving craziness that will be tomorrow.

I look forward to your next contact with Internet access and more news from our intrepid builders!

Love to John!

Looking forward to another update when you can...all is well here. Let Carolyn know I've talked to her mother. No worries. May your hands be blessed to building a solid home!

Peace,
Wendy

We are continuing to pray for you all. Can't wait to hear about all of your adventures and all the wonderful work you are doing.

Katie

ps. We did get snow and ice, and a two hour delay! Hope you are enjoying your warm sunny weather!

Thinking of you all! After getting the ice/snow Katie mentioned it turned into an absolutely lovely day - just so you don't feel too sorry for us! Obviously looking forward to hearing from you, but know you are doing God's work and building a better future for and with a family.

Be well,

Barbara
